OGE receives ESG Transparency Award for its excellent 2023 Sustainability report
For the past three years, OGE has been publishing a comprehensive Sustainability Report, documenting the group’s activities in the fields of ecology, economy and society. With its 2023 report, OGE competed for the ESG Transparency Award for the first time, achieving an overall score of 86%, which places the report in the Excellence Class. According to the EUPD Research Institute, which awards the seal, this distinction is reserved for companies that "have recognised the importance of transparent sustainability reporting and have successfully put it into practice".
The methodology behind the award is based on a model which scientifically assesses sustainability reports against a set of parameters in a total of five clusters. Included in OGE’s overall score of 86% are the sub-scores from the following clusters: transparency of reporting, environmental aspects, social responsibility and measures, corporate governance and control, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. EUPD Research lists companies that achieve an overall score of 75-100% in the Excellence Class.
The 2023 Sustainability Report, for which OGE has now received the award, focused primarily on the transformation of the company’s core business from natural gas supply to hydrogen and CO2 transportation in the future. The other topics addressed in the report included the need to safeguard energy supplies while at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Klaus Altfeld, OGE Head of Strategy, Transformation, Innovation & Sustainability, had this to say about the award: "At OGE, we attach great importance to sustainability, the protection of resources, security of supply and the well-being of our employees. We are proud to have set important priorities with our sustainability reports in recent years. This award is the result of the valuable work of our interdisciplinary core team around sustainability manager Jennifer Buchkremer."
Work on the OGE group's 2024 Sustainability Report is already underway, and the report will be published at the end of March 2025. The previous reports can be found here:
