CLB pipeline construction project

CO₂ pipeline connects Lägerdorf with Brunsbüttel

The Lägerdorf-Brunsbüttel CO2 pipeline will connect the cement plant in Lägerdorf with the CO2 hub in Brunsbüttel.

As one of the leading gas network operators in Europe, we are planning to build and operate a pipeline of around 28 kilometres in length from Lägerdorf to Brunsbüttel for carbon dioxide (CO2) in gaseous form.

The pipeline will connect the cement plant in Lägerdorf with the industrial and harbour area in Brunsbüttel. The aim is to either safely store the high levels of unavoidable CO2 emissions from cement production or to recycle the CO2 for useful products. In this way we are making an important contribution to climate protection.

Project description

Soil investigations for the CO2 pipeline from Lägerdorf to Brunsbüttel have been underway since October 2024, with surveying work and environmental studies being carried out in parallel. These investigations are crucial for obtaining the data needed for preparing of the planning approval documents. We are currently still at the planning approval stage.

There was a first information event for all interested parties on 5 November 2024. It provided a platform to present the project and answer questions from the public. The knowledge gained and the feedback received provided us with valuable insights and will help us prepare the planning approval documents.

Further information and dialogue events will follow in 2025 once the plans have been finalised. The events will serve to keep the public informed about the progress of the project and promote an open dialogue.
