Hydrogen training centre

Training with hydrogen: get H2-ready with our training centre in Werne

OGE is committed to creating a sustainable and future-proof energy infrastructure, which is why we are gradually building a Germany-wide hydrogen pipeline network. In addition to the technical facilities, this also requires the transfer of knowledge and expertise among technical employees. To facilitate this process, we have built our H2 training centre in Werne, which allows us to pass on relevant H2 expertise to our own staff and to employees of other organisations in a very hands-on manner.

Decades of experience in the safe and efficient operation of natural gas transmission systems has allowed OGE to build a solid knowledge base which we are now expanding to include hydrogen (H2) infrastructure. Handling hydrogen requires a deep understanding of its unique properties and risks as well as adapted and new work processes along with additional qualifications for operating personnel.

To meet these requirements, OGE has teamed up with specialist partners to design and build its H2 training centre in Werne. This facility allows technical personnel to learn how to handle hydrogen under real conditions and to practise operating procedures.

At the end of the course, there is a joint test to assess the successful completion of the training course, and participants receive a DVGW certificate for trained specialists.

From theory to practice: our training concept

The H2 training centre in Werne offers a wide range of training options tailored specifically to the needs of technical personnel working with hydrogen. Our bespoke training courses have a two-stage structure, featuring a theoretical and a practical part. This programme is offered in cooperation with the Gas- und Wärme-Institut Essen e. V. (GWI) and the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW).
