NETG pipeline construction project
Basis for the conversion from L-gas to H-gas
The 23.6 km NETG transmission pipeline connects the Voigtslach valve station in Leverkusen Hitdorf with the Paffrath station in the municipality of Bergisch Gladbach.
A total of 1,364 individual pipe strings of 17.3 metres each and a total weight of around 6,550 tonnes were installed, requiring a total of 2,050 welded joints to be made.
The NETG pipeline is a prerequisite for the timely conversion of millions of households, commercial and industrial customers in the Cologne area from L-gas to H-gas.
At the beginning of 2023, the last welded joint of the NETG Voigtslach-Paffrath pipeline was completed at the gas metering and pressure regulating station in Paffrath. Following acceptance by TÜV as the supervisory authority, the technical completion of the pipeline in terms of operational readiness for natural gas transmission has thus been achieved, and the pipeline has since been connected to Germany’s gas transmission pipeline network.
