Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN), Eni Netherlands CCUS, Gasunie, Open Grid Europe (OGE), Shell and TotalEnergies EP Nederland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The parties agreed to collaborating on the development of an interoperable, cross border CO₂ pipeline network connecting industrial clusters in North Rhine Westphalia with offshore storage locations in the Dutch North Sea, including an integration with the Aramis project.

Agreement between Gasunie, Open Grid Europe and Thyssengas marks a significant milestone in connecting the national hydrogen networks of the Netherlands and Germany. Strategic opportunities for both countries: As an importer, producer, and transit country, the Netherlands ensures a reliable supply of hydrogen for Germany.
The demand for transport capacity in the future hydrogen core network has already exceeded network operators’ expectations at the very start of the reservation phase. Market interest is a clear signal of the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy in Germany.
The H2med project reaches a key milestone again: The list of Projects of Common Interest (PCIs) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMIs) has been published on April, 9th, 2026 in the Official Journal of the European Union. It is confirming the award of the PCI label to the BarMar (Barcelona-Marseille) and CelZa (Celorico da Beira-Zamora) interconnections, as well as the national backbones jointly forming the H2med corridor.
